STEP 7
Once a child has properly decoded the first letter or two letters of the word, the vowels need to be analyzed. This set will drive a child to learn the most common long vowel combinations. He will see if there is one vowel or two vowels and learn to recognize short vowels and long vowel combinations in words.
This is the time to present the words from Step 2 and Step 3 that look similar to Step 7. The pictures and the words have been chosen to prevent boredom and keep the novelty coming. Children and adults will love the selection of pictures because they evoke humor, compassion and/or intrigue.
